Historical Examples
Coded systems that we can learn from

There have been numerous historical examples of groups of people or entire communities devising codes to communicate under circumstances that hinder the regular methods that they would be using otherwise. Though there will always be millions of other examples that the world will perhaps never hear of, we believe that we can learn from the ones we do know about, to create a guided system by which those in need of it can benefit from it in the future.

Here is a list of examples that we can (and have already started to) learn from, to help create new systems that can be implemented today. This list is an ever-growing one and we urge readers to contribute and make it larger and more concise as there is never going to be an end to the number of systems that already exist.
